About the Piece
You’re Not Done is a piece that blends photography, illustration, and embroidery to explore the quiet, often unseen process of personal growth. At its center is a photograph of a shoulder—an unexpected choice when thinking about motion or progress. Shoulders aren't typically seen as active or expressive, but that’s the point. The embroidered bones beneath the skin and the classic illustrative motion lines challenge the viewer to rethink what movement looks like.
The piece is about the subtle kind of forward motion—the kind that happens internally, slowly, and sometimes without recognition. The shoulder becomes a symbol of this overlooked effort, representing how we carry ourselves and continue moving forward even when it’s not obvious. There’s vulnerability in showing what’s beneath the surface—both literally and emotionally—and in acknowledging that progress doesn’t always look like triumph. Sometimes, it just looks like continuing. This piece is a reminder that growth is happening even when we can’t see it… and that healing, change, and effort often coexist quietly.
