About the Piece

What Leads Your Mind? explores the invisible yet constant interplay between our physical senses and the mental pathways they ignite. Inspired by the mind’s nonlinear process of thought—how we leap from one idea to the next, forming a thread of understanding from seemingly scattered sparks—this piece captures the intricate dance between perception and cognition.

Using a combination of embroidery, illustration, and photography, the work visualizes the rhythm and momentum of the thinking mind. Hand-stitched lines and bursts of thread represent neural connections and sensory inputs, while layered imagery hints at how these fleeting stimuli are woven into deeper ideas. The senses don’t just observe the world—they shape how we interpret it.

This piece reflects on how quickly and endlessly our minds process the world, and how the physical act of seeing, feeling, and experiencing is in constant conversation with internal reflection. It’s a celebration of the brain’s beautiful chaos—its leaps, loops, and connections—and a reminder that thought itself is a kind of art.
