About the Piece
We all know the phrase “red flags,” but this piece leans into the quieter, more insidious side of that idea. It’s about the slow, almost imperceptible shifts that take place in people and relationships—the kind of changes you don’t notice until they’re undeniable. It captures that moment of clarity, when you begin to recognize the patterns, the warning signs, and ultimately, the need to choose yourself.
Visually, the piece weaves together layered textures, fragmented imagery, and a limited palette to reflect the inner conflict of staying versus leaving. There’s discomfort in that liminal space—where things aren’t yet broken, but they aren’t whole either. The red flags here don’t scream. They whisper. They build. And they demand reflection. Life rarely offers us obvious signals; it’s in the nuance, the shift of tone, the uneasy quiet that we start to see truth.
This piece asks viewers to reflect on their own experiences—on the relationships, environments, or versions of themselves that no longer serve them—and to consider what it means to reclaim clarity, identity, and agency.
