About the Project
Ips-o-mat was a themed art exhibition hosted by Ipso Gallery at Fresh Produce, a creative agency and art space in Sioux Falls. Each summer, Fresh Produce invites three interns to run their in-house agency, Famous, working directly with clients and branding the August Ipso show. For the 2024 application, the gallery posed a speculative branding challenge centered around wearable art. This unique art show asked: Why T-shirts? The answer—T-shirts allow artists to explore new mediums, create tangible work for their communities, and inspire everyday interaction with local art.
The Challenge
Applicants for the graphic design position were asked to design a promotional flyer and vinyl sign to advertise Ips-o-mat. These materials would be displayed around the city and outside the gallery space. The visuals needed to convey the spirit of collaboration, community, and creativity while tying directly into the theme of wearable art. While this was a speculative project, the goal was to create something that felt real, compelling, and connected to the gallery’s mission.

Our Solution
My concept took inspiration from the tactile nature of t-shirts—thread, stitching, fabric movement—and brought those textures to life through whimsical line art and playful, bubbly forms. The visual language was intentionally fluid, mimicking loose threads and hand-drawn seams, to mirror the experimental nature of the show. Typography was kept bold and legible for street-level readability while maintaining an artful balance with the organic illustrations. While I wasn’t selected for the internship, the project was a rewarding exercise in concept-driven design—and a great opportunity to celebrate the overlap of graphic design and gallery culture.
